Amfora products are created and designed by artist Päivi Rintaniemi. Amfora products are manufactured, with years of experience, in Päivi's hometown Seinäjoki in the western Finland. Päivi have received remarkable prizes and her works have been recognized in Europe and Asia.

On Wednesday artist Päivi Rintaniemi will be visiting Amfora shop Helsinki between 11:00- 16:00.

EXHIBITIONS: INTERNATIONAL ART COMICS AND VIDEO ART
MUU gallery presents two exhibitions: VERTIGE by Helge Reumann (Switzerland) and Gunnar Lundkvist (Sweden). The exhibition is part of the Annual Comics Festival. Second exhibition is VIDEO RETROSPECTIVE of Aarno Salosmaa. Both exhibitions are open till September 30th.

Tiina Mielonen (born 1974) is a painter living in Helsinki. She paints with oil on plexiglass. Her subject is the landscape with it’s various lights, colours and sensations. Besides Finland, her works have been exhibited in several European countries and in Mongol.

Rural Architecture in the Eastern Black Sea Region

Scattered in the breathtaking mountains of north-east Turkey off the eastern Black Sea there are houses and groups of houses based on the local building tradition, many built at the turn of the 20th century. These handsome buildings are made of stone and wood and decorated with elaborate ornaments. They are perfectly fitted in the surrounding landscape. The area also has beautiful old mosques built of wood and ancient churches. Many of these buildings are neglected and now threatening to vanish. Milli Reasurans T.A.S.

Finns dream about living by the water. Lakeside housing has been studied in recent ideas competitions for Lohja, Jyväskylä, Hämeeninna and Järvenpää. The entries propose homes in low-rise buildings as well as blocks of flats. Architectural competitions are also used to seek places for quiet contemplation. The prize-winning entries for Tikkurila Church in Vantaa represent a variety of solutions for the gathering of parishioners amidst the hustle and bustle of a modern city. LIISA MÄLKKI: STORY OF COLORS - paintings

This physical work of casting bronze has felt good, when you have spent 30 years ”manipulating” students to become enthusiastic about art. Earlier I thought bronze too luxurious and I preferred for instance paperclay for ecological reasons, but in fact it is possible to recycle bronze over and over again.The theme is ”story of pairs, couples, to be by ourselves”. Romantic thinking often combines sunsets and loving couples. Here you may compose ”wayangs” of couples in art history and bronzes with my photos of sunsets. Or like Saint-Exupery`s Little Prince: "Tu sais…quand on est tellement triste, on aime les couchers de solail (when you are very sad, you love sunsets)".

In my paintings you can find traces of gestures, which I have used when moving pigments to canvas. In some of them, the trace is small and disciplined. In some of them I draw more relaxed. I have also painted with meditation, with parallel lines. Sometimes I allow the paint to move freely, without touching it. I study with interest the combined effect of surface tension and gravity when i conduct the slow colour performance, which I have created.
